Those who want former President George W. Bush imprisoned, drawn and quartered or just gutted on national TV have expressed outrage at President Barack Obama’s reluctance to unleash the hounds on his predecessor.
They can’t understand why Obama won’t join them in prosecuting members of the Bush administration for condoning torture or other abuses of human rights in the so-called "war on terror."
We may have an answer. Obama doesn’t want to send Bush to the slammer because he plans to use some of the same abuses in his own war on terror.

Obama sends 17,000 more troops to Afghanistan

President Barack Obama, in his first major military decision as commander-in-chief, has ordered 17,000 more troops to Afghanistan to tackle an intensifying insurgency, the White House said on Tuesday.
But in an interview with Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), Obama also said military means alone would not solve the problem.
GM, Chrysler ask for more bailout money

General Motors and Chrysler have requested another 21.6 billion dollars in bailout funds, adding to the long list of pleas for help facing the administration of US President Barack Obama.
On Tuesday, the same day Obama signed into a law a 787-billion-dollar stimulus package, the carmakers said they needed the cash to stay afloat long enough to restructure the two companies and avoid bankruptcy.
Dems ‘Truth Commission’: Just more partisanship?

Republicans are almost universally opposed, and President Barack Obama doesn’t appear to be enthralled with the idea either, saying at his first prime-time news conference he would consider the proposal but wants to look forward.
Burris says he welcomes probe of his actions

An increasingly embattled U.S. Sen. Roland Burris said he "welcomes" the chance for authorities and elected officials to look into how he landed a coveted Senate appointment from ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Burris’ admission that he had more contact with Blagojevich advisers about the Senate seat than he described under oath to a state House impeachment panel has furious lawmakers asking for an investigation into whether the Democrat committed perjury.
And the revelation that Burris tried to raise money for the governor after Blagojevich’s brother asked him for fundraising help has triggered calls for Burris’ resignation.

She arrived Wednesday, her second stop in an inaugural overseas trip as the top U.S. diplomat.
