American deaths in Iraq hits 3,033

The U.S. military said Saturday that three American troops were killed, including a soldier whose patrol was struck by a roadside bomb in Baghdad.

The Multi-National Division — Baghdad soldier died and another was wounded Saturday when an improvised explosive device struck their patrol in a northern section of the capital, according to the statement.

Richardson to launch Presidential run

After years of freelancing his diplomatic skills from the unlikely position as governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson is taking the first step toward a bid to become president and put his skills to work in the White House.

Richardson plans to announce Sunday that he will soon file papers to create a presidential exploratory committee, several officials with knowledge of his plans said Friday. The governor is scheduled to appear Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”

House overhauls page system

The House on Friday overhauled the board supervising its teenage pages, responding to a scandal that left youngsters vulnerable to a lawmaker’s sexual come-ons and helped Democrats win control of Congress.

The vote was 416-0 to equalize the political membership of the House Page Board, whose Republican chairman never told two board colleagues that he believed — for a year — that Rep. Mark Foley was a “ticking time bomb.”
