President Bush is drawing heat over a $40 million splurge on inaugural balls, concerts and candlelight dinners while the country is in a somber mood because of the Iraq war and Asian tsunami.
Over the past quarter-century, U.S. politics has changed dramatically. Republicans, conservatives and free-market advocates have moved from the fringes to center stage. But elsewhere, the changes are less dramatic.
It was nigh onto impossible to have survived last year’s presidential campaign without hearing the oft-repeated Bush slogan: “W” Stands for Women.
If anyone out there needs a newspaper columnist to promote an agenda, I’m open to suggestion.
