The hoopla surrounding the one-year observance of 9-11-01 has passed but the heartfelt sentiments that accompany American memories of that dark day remain visible throughout this country. A jogger runs under this sign in Arlington County, Virginia, just outside Washington on Tuesday. Such signs are a common sight, along with flags that still fly throughout the region and nation. “We have to let terrorists know we will never forget and that we will avenge 9-11,” said a man looking at the sign on Tuesday. When asked for his name, he smiled and said: “Why don’t you just call me an American.” Enough said.
