Iraq oil revenue soars, creating huge surplus
Iraq is not spending much of its own money, despite soaring oil revenues that are pushing the country toward a massive budget surplus, U.S. auditors told Congress on Tuesday.
The expected surplus comes as the U.S. continues to invest billions of dollars in rebuilding Iraq and faces a financial squeeze domestically because of record oil prices.
“The Iraqis have a budget surplus,” said U.S. Comptroller General David Walker. “We have a huge budget deficit. … One of the questions is who should be paying.”
As was noted, Monday, we currently are spending 12 BILLION DOLLARS A MONTH!
There is something VERY WRONG with this! Anyone that doesn’t see clearly that we need to declare VICTORY in Iraq and come home, has blinders on.
But apparently GW wants to stay there to make it easy to attack Iran. And John McCain supports all of Bush’s failed policies.

Official: Iraq, China Nearing Oil Deal
AP reports the following:
Iraq and China are close to re-signing a $1.2 billion oil deal that was called off after the 2003 U.S. invasion, an Iraqi Oil Ministry official said Thursday.
So we are not even getting any oil out of the deal. With gas at $3-$4 a gallon, we could use this extra oil.
It appears to me that Iraq has a govt now with a constitution. They have armed militias and secular violence is down. Al Qaeda has been driven out and very little terrorism remains except for those insurgents that really want Americans out of their country.
We really can’t blame them. If the situation was reversed, we wouldn’t stop fighting until all invaders were driven out!
The smart answer is to declare victory, save our troops and money and come home. The problem is politicians who although they sound smart, obviously just don’t get it.
