Wanna see a real gun nut? Meet Wayne LaPierre

Wayne LaPierre: A crazy man leading an organization of nuts.

Based on the hysterical hyperbole spilling out the mouth of National Rifle Association honcho Wayne LaPierre like too much verbal diarrhea, one would assume the average American and potential gun owner is a gutless coward who needs a firearm to shoot anything in sight.

LaPierre, long an embarrassment to anyone with an IQ over that of an average vegetable, is edging more and more into the realm of uncontrollable madman, a raving lunatic who seems to want everyone in schools armed, even elementary school kids, and who describes a frightened America filled with citizens cowering in fear in their homes waiting to shoot anyone who walks in the door.

OK, LaPierre hasn’t advocated arming elementary kids.  Not yet, but based on some of his senseless ramblings, such an idea may be in the back of his head.

At the annual gathering of gun fanciers who genuflect to the NRA’s propaganda, LaPierre claimed an armed America could have prevented the bombings at the Boston marathon and talked about the need to arm even granny to keep her safe in her home.

Which raises an interesting — and disturbing — question.  Is the target audience of LaPierre and his inate ramblings a citizen who really needs self protection or is it a collection of paranoid cowards who need guns to establish some vague concept of manhood (and womanhood since NRA these days is targeting women)?

I’ve known LaPierre for more than 30 years and he has always been a hysterical, paranoid egomaniac who plays well to the insane fears of the average gun nut. In his view, America is best served by a population of gun toting masses walking down the street with firearms strapped to their sides as a deterrent to what he sees as a teeming sea of robbers, looters and street thugs.

Arming the masses, the told the NRA convention in Houston, could have prevented the bombings in Boston.  How?  He doesn’t say, but knowing Wayne, he probably sees deterrence as allowing anyone to shoot randomly at anyone toting a backpack on a public street.

While this kind of hysteria ignores common sense and the dangers of too many guns in the hands of too many nut cases, it plays well with the hysterical average member of the National Rifle Association.

He suggested most Bostonians withed they had carried a gun at the Boston Marathon last month.

And done what?  Fired at anything that moved?  Most Bostonians want nothing to do with guns.

He talked about “frightened” people living in fear in their homes.  Really?  Where? Who?

Such inanity does nothing to bring reason to the needed debate over the proliferation of guns in our society and the increase of violence that leaves too many people dead or wounded.

After watching LaPierre’s latest tirade at this past weekend’s NRA gathering, I now understand why the association is fighting so hard to prevent expansion of background checks and increased looks at the mental history of those who purchase guns.

Such a law would prevent crazy loons like Wayne LaPierre or a lot of the other lunatics who run the NRA from ever legally obtaining or owning firearms.

And that alone is the best argument for expanding background checks.

  1. It is hard to take Wayne seriously. Clearly the NRA thinks he is fine, or he would not be wearing the 30-year gold watch.
He really is a pretty good performance artist in the TV preacher mold. He does what they do quite well, which is to raise money. He is doing what Coulter, Limbaugh, etc. do, which is say shit to sell shit, such as (respectively) NRA memberships, books and Snapple. It is all done in the hollowed tradition of fleecing the rubes.
Wayne’s schtick is sedition porn. It is too bad that he is flirting with armed insurrection-mongering as a way to capitalize fear.

  2. We apparently live in a country with all sorts of nuts. We have gun nuts, religious nuts, political nuts, etc, etc.

I guess the melting pot has melted.

Maybe being a nut is normal…and its everybody else is…..???

  3. We are seeing a new and improved Republican Platform and agenda right out of the mouths of the Tea Party.

This is possible after the GOP took a long nap away from Presidents Bush 41 and 43. Most of us, who had a shocking reaction from President Bush who lulled us into quiet religious 4 years of a false paradise of peace. A new Democrat woke us up and we went to work trying to cast President Clinton into the role of the Anti-Christ.

I’d never seen such a dumb batch of Americans who tried to Impeach Clinton without giving a single thought on where to replace him with a Republican. Did television do this to my old party?

Now it seems that Senator Ted Cruz is the new leader of the GOP. Are we Republicans so dumbed down to accept a Canadian born candidate?

The 2016 campaign is now in full swing and it should be simple to put us back in a war in the middle east and divert our attention in pulling Senator Cruz into the White House because his Mother was born in America.

Senator Cruz is a power house of American values. His list of prohibitions make Bush look like a movie producer. Is this what Republicans really want? We are going to have to elect a father image with balls because we lost ours in our family?

As much as we dislike our House of Representatives, we still can’t replace them. We don’t have the balls or brains to be a democracy.

  4. Is the target audience of LaPierre and his inate ramblings a citizen who really needs self protection or is it a collection of paranoid cowards who need guns to establish some vague concept of manhood (and womanhood since NRA these days is targeting women).

    Bingo!!
