Ex-wife: Gingrich wanted an ‘open marriage’

GOP candidates Mitt Romne & Newt Gingrich

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, surging once again on the eve of the South Carolina primary, found his freewheeling personal life under scrutiny Thursday with explosive allegations from a former wife that he wanted an “open marriage” so he could sleep with other women.

When John King, moderator of Thursday night’s CNN debate, opened the forum with a question about open marriage, an obviously agitated Gingrich went on the attack.

The destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country, harder to attract decent people to run for public office. And I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate on a topic like that.

But the question that voters will have to answer is whether or not they can support a candidate who preaches family values after dumping two wives to marry his mistresses and admits for a life once filled with numerous sexual partners while married.

Second wife Marianne Gingrich, who had an affair with Gingrich before he dumped wife number one and married her, told ABC News “Nightline” Thursday that her husband wanted an “open marriage” that would allow him to sleep around.

“He was asking to have an open marriage and I refused,” the former Mrs. Gingrich said.

An angry Gingrich denied the allegations.

“Ask anyone I know,” he responded.

Capitol Hill Blue asked a number of people who knew and worked with Gingrich during his second marriage and they weren’t surprised that he might have asked for an open marriage.

“Newt screwed any willing thing in a skirt,” says Anne Nolan, a former campaign aide. “If she was the least bit attractive and showed an interest he was ready to hop into bed.”

Other former aides said Gingrich openly propositioned women by claiming he and his wife had an open marriage.

“He tried to talk me into oral sex one time,” says a former female House aide who asked not to be identified. ” When I told him I didn’t get involved with married men he just laughed and said ‘don’t worry, my wife knows.  We have an open marriage.’ ”

A woman who once worked with GoPAC, Gingrich’s political action committee, said the former Speaker of the House “came on to her” and other women who worked with the organization.

“He was like a jackrabbit in heat,” she said. “He didn’t like being turned down and he would persist.”

  1. Observations on what makes up a Newt Gingrich.

Somehow, he lived his first 60 years as a student and political participant whose verbal talent and theatrical timing won him a world of beautiful women and political power. He slept around with abandon but married to promote his own career.

We who love Shakespeare and Grand Opera could musically score and produce plays based on his actions before he decided to run for the Presidency. Operas are written to tell an entire story in three hours (including the Overture.) If Shakespeare cannot solve the dilemma in 3 hours, he writes Part 2 and even Part 3.

I guess I’m waiting for the other boot to fall and Gingrich is then exposed as simply a dirty old man. I somehow have to bring up an alcoholic who makes it through 7 days of staying dry and then runs around lecturing to everyone how he did it. Reality is always there proving this a wrong end game. Newt has no intention of trying to amend associations who he had hurt very badly. But because he claims to be forgiven by God, the rest of his associations be damned.

The poor man lived 60 years without ever thinking of anyone but himself. He screwed around because all those women were available. An oath taken to his wives as well as his oath taken to protect the Constitution was just silly words. He found his ticket of success with a Congressional Aide who happened to be pretty, wealthy, a strong catholic who carried with her the ticket to forgiveness, redemption and a need to be married. She saw a potential ticket to clean up her own act and Newt just happened to fit the bill.

Since his becoming an Evangelical will he use and abuse her just as did to his first two wives? Will he expect to make it into the White House and then start looking around for a younger version which is his M.O. It didn’t hurt Clinton so it can’t hurt Gingrich. Right?

What is missing in this man? Was he raised as a Christian without a single thought about the difference between right and wrong? Did he accept the word of God as the only law he would never need? It was too easy for him to beg for forgiveness than even give a thought to amend his ways. Apparently it seems to be working and there were tears of joy in the voters of South Carolina. Will it be repeated in Florida? If the Evangelicals can’t keep up this movement to anoint New Gingrich, what will God tell them to do about it?

  2. The whole vision of the new Mrs. Gingrich being the hostess in the White House might just be too big a stretch for the Conservative Republican leaders and I wonder if Newt gets the gold ring, he might have to promise to dump his new wife.

The White House has been a monument of power and leadership since it was built and to accept an adulterous tramp to replace Michelle Obama may not work well with the National Republican Committee. Time will tell.

  3. What’s most amazing about this ‘Gingrich issue’ is that our nation is going down the tubes in a financial sense and the greater unwashed masses are discussing an aspiring crimpol’s extramarital sexual activities in lieu of the immediate dangers to our national home, the USA, and it’s all we’ve got folks; I.E., our nation, America…! / : |

We’re in the sweephand mode to the midnight of our destruction along with a quantum leap of change in what we once knew as our nation, once the land of the free and home of the brave.

These corrupt mattoids all, are wasting our precious endtimes moments until all is lost. It’s time to wake up and scorn them all. They vend, endless bullsh*t…believe it!

Are we stupid or what…?! Is it too much ‘junk food’ and endless HDTV programming?

He may not be perfect, but I still see the destabilizing entity of “Ron Paul for President 2012” as the only end run for hopefully stopping this massive inertia, leading us to our total and absolute financial destruction as a nation.

Even if the Paul is a one term wonder, it’s worth the risk.

If citizens feel comfortable with the Obama, Mitt, Newt, Rick et. al. then surely and sorely they’ll end up getting the goverment they deserve in spades! / : |

  4. Bill, Family Values mean that women must be completely faithful to their husbands. Men do not want to financially support anyone else’s spawn. Most of them leave home and the kids are on their own. Sadly when these same men treat their wives like dirt the bedroom doors are shut on their face and then they can head out to find a bed partner.

Many women are not particularly interested in sex and sometimes welcome another women in their lives. The churches end up approving this as the guilty parties are generous with their support of the churches. Many people do not really believe in God but play this game to cover their asses in the eyes of society.

I’m not convinced that in today’s culture marriage is an asset except to finance the children. This whole illusion that South Carolina is faith based is simply a bald-faced lie. They want social laws that go back to the inquisition and they will elect Machiavelli to make it happen.

I’m tired of trying for individual freedoms and unless the voters themselves take a stand against this treatment of women and gays, America will be a Christian Nation filled with citizens who can worship Tebow and pray with him for a touchdown. My European Humanist Internet pals are laughing their butts off with what is happening in America.
