  1. You may be amused to note the British have hitched their wagon to this particular horse as well. They’re cheerily knocking together a couple of aircraft carriers that can usefully carry no other aircraft than the F-35.

Lewis Page, a regular columnist for “The Register”,
often has a few choice things to say about that choice.

And “On the Edge of Space”? Not so much. An F-22 would take an F-35 apart in a dogfight, but that’s not what they’re designed for. They’re actually designed to fly slower and lower and cost a lot less than the F-22.

    • Hi Jon,

My mistake concerning “the edge of space” comment. I had a gut feeling I confused the two; ie., F-35 vs. F22. Regardless this endless ‘skunk works’ type nonsense is getting far too expensive for us to continue.

Besides, who in the hell are we ‘fighting’ anyway that has parity with our military? China is ‘upping’ it’s defense budget to 95 billion per annum while we are spending 7x as much…!? It seems as our nation goes down the tubes we’re biting at our own tail by singularly engaging in engineered wars for the pupose continually feeding the ever-hungry maw of the MIC and for no other purpose.

Thanks for the comments and correction. : )

  2. Ah, the continuing saga of another MIC boondoggle.

The JSF program has had problems from it’s infancy. Here’s a link from 2007 defining serious issues with the power generation system aboard one of these craft.

The DOD needs to take this ol’ ‘project snake’ out behind the Pentagon’s woodshed and chop its head off immediately if not sooner. Now we’ve wasted money on 10 of them. Yep, we really need to fight future wars on the edge of space. No other nation on earth is developing such a program since they can’t afford to do so, neither can we. Evidently there’s a disconnect with DOD planners and the money guys.
