Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), a lawmaker who faced several threats during the heated health care debate, is calling on the country to ratchet down its heated political rhetoric and calling on lawmakers to speak out forcefully and condemn such comments.
Noting that the tragic shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) — which, in total, left 20 people wounded and six dead — occurred just a week before Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, Clyburn said on “Fox News Sunday” that “good people” have a responsibility to not be silent:
I think the sheriff out there in Tucson — I think he’s got it right. Words do have consequences, and I think that — this is nothing new, I’ve been saying this for a long time now. We’re getting ready to celebrate, this weekend, the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., who admonished us that we are going to regret in this generation not just the vitriolic words and deeds of bad people, but the appalling silence of good people.
And I think that what has happened here is the vitriol has gotten so elevated, until people feel emboldened by this. And people, who are a little less than stable, and people aren’t thinking for themselves or are so easily influenced, they got out and do things that all of us pay a great price for. I applaud the Republican leadership for doing what they’ve done in this instance, for giving everybody a chance to step back and take a hard look at this, and decide how we can go forward.

I’ve noticed that all the bleeding heart corporatist/MSM shills from Olbermann to folks like Clyburn are squealing like stuck pigs due to the fact that heat; ie, violence is being turned up against them either directly or indirectly.
Their hubris as legislators along with their ardent supporters in the media are wailing to the heavens over this recent display of violence in our society.
They seemingly don’t get it. You can’t continually screw over “We the People” with bum, criminally diposed legislation, wage engineered wars in far off places and to crater this nation with their out of control spending and not to see an increase in heated, to downright hateful political rhetoric.
These legislators have wrecked our manufacturing infrastructure due to their love affair with ‘free trade’, offshoring, H1-B visas and the concept of globalism gone wild while turning their heads away from the illegal immigration issue and a host of other things that indicate they are traitors to the Republic and its founding documents.
If Washington,Jefferson, Adams, Madison, Paine and others were alive today I know what their recommendation would be concerning our failed government.
What we have in our nation’s capitol is no different than what we faced in terms of British colonial despotism several hundred years ago, actually far worse.
We the People no longer have any representation in our nation’s capitol with voting outcomes determined by how much money has been thrown at their feet by lobbyists with a corporate agenda. They too have a love affair with globalism, the New World Order and other such quack ideas hatched by bored, jaded elitists who enjoy having their collective corporatist boots upon our necks. I guess we’re supposed to say thankyou for them letting us survive another day…no? / : |
This nation is on now like a pot on a slow, low boil with the lid in place and we all know what that means if the the pressure isn’t relieved.
These arrogant, now fearful ‘reps’ are beginning to realize that it’s dangerous out there and they through their refusal to do the bidding of their constituents have put themselves in the position of “leaders and decision makers” for us who put them there. They have their priorities screwed up bigtime.
I’m not advocating violence, but laying out by cause and effect as to how we’ve gotten to where were at in these seemingly end times for the Republic.
People can accuse me of being a permafrost “cassandra”, but for those with eyes to see and ears to hear know of what I’m writing.
