I am really getting tired of the Genuises of Propaganda (GOP) Republican party constantly throwing mud at their opponents but when their sordid past comes up they say “that just doesn’t matter”.
That’s essentially what McCain said to Letterman last night when asked about his close association to convicted Watergate criminal G Gordon Liddy.
After weeks of hammering Barack Obama for having an association with a former Weather Undergound member, John McCain was asked Thursday afternoon about his own connections to a past felon: G. Gordon Liddy.
The question came, of all places, from late night comedian David Letterman, who pressed the Senator to explain why he was friendly with the man who was convicted in the Watergate scandal of conspiracy, burglary, and illegal wiretapping. McCain – according to an advanced report of the show – initially said that he “met” Liddy before adding, “He paid his debt, he went to prison, he paid his debt.” Here is another segment of the interview:
Dave: Did you not have a relationship with Gordon Liddy? McCain: Uh, I met him. I — Dave: Did you attend a fundraiser at his house? McCain: Gordon Liddy’s? Paul: I object, your honor. Dave: We will be right back here… (laughter)
And yet, important to note in all of this, is that Liddy has been publicly unrepentant for his actions, much like Ayers. In an interview with the UK Independent Liddy said he didn’t regret burglarizing the offices of the Democratic National Committee.
Recently, viewers of ABC’s morning talk show “The View” have been battered with co-host Elizabeth constant diaharea of the mouth spouting standard Republican propaganda. Recently when Barbara Walters and others asked her about McCain’s actions, her answer was and has consistently been when cornered about McCain “that doesn’t matter and then back to her rude disinformation.
Similar actions can be found across the board especially when concerning VP nominee, Sarah Palin who is nothing but a talking propagandist, a walking double standard.
There can not be two standards — one for the rich and powerful and one for everyone else. That is class warfare, plain and simple. And it keeps happening every time the lie, cheat and steal Republican Party gets power. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the middle class ends up paying for it.
Elect McCain-Palin in 08 — Just more Screwups spending $4566 PER SECOND in Iraq while the rest of us go broke!
