The following is a letter to my Congresswoman, Deborah Pryce of the 15th Congressional district in Ohio:
Congresswoman Pryce,
I am dismayed at your vote on Roll Call 674 https://clerk.house.gov/evs/2008/roll674.xml But I guess we should not be surprised that you prefer rich bankers to real people.
This vote highlights your betrayal of honest hardworking Americans and shows us your true masters. Time and again you have voted against the American people. You have handed Bin Ladin his victory over America by fundamentally changing our system of government.
Acts you, Deborah Pryce supported:
PATRIOT Act
Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003
PATRIOT Act Renewal
Military Commissions Act of 2006
FISA Amendments Act of 2008
Freedoms lost due to those acts:
FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION: Government may monitor religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity to assist terror investigations.
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION: Government has closed once-public immigration hearings, has secretly detained hundreds of people without charges, and has encouraged bureaucrats to resist public records questions.
FREEDOM OF SPEECH: Government may prosecute librarians or keepers of any other records if they tell anyone that the government subpoenaed information related to a terror investigation.
RIGHT TO LEGAL REPRESENTATION: Government may monitor federal prison jailhouse conversations between attorneys and clients, and deny lawyers to Americans accused of crimes.
FREEDOM FROM UNREASONABLE SEARCHES: Government may search and seize Americans’ papers and effects without probable cause to assist terror investigation.
RIGHT TO A SPEEDY AND PUBLIC TRIAL: Government may jail Americans indefinitely without a trial.
RIGHT TO LIBERTY: Americans may be jailed without being charged or being able to confront witnesses against them.

And now you try to rob honest hardworking American families to give their money to rich Wall Street banks and brokerages by voting for the $700 billion bail out plan drafted by ex-Goldman Sachs CEO Henry Paulson who personally helped create, profited from, and now claims to have the fix for the issue he created.
As a member of the House Committee on Financial Services, being Ranking Member, Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government Sponsored Enterprises, and being on the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit you should be proposing real solutions, not blindly following the Bush Administration’s insider cronies like Paulson. But you probably never saw this coming, even though people have been warning about it since 2004.
You are morally corrupt and unfit for office. Your actions have foisted a police state upon the United States and fundamentally changed our country for the worse. We will never forget your complacency to tyranny. Bin Ladin should personally thank you for handing him the victory he could never have achieved without your help.
Stay in Washington. We don’t want you back in Ohio.
Hoping for better leadership,
Michael Wood
I’ll post any response I receive. And I encourage everyone to write a similar letter to their representatives and let them know we are not going to take it anymore.
