During a time in our history when many Americans are taking “staycations” because they cannot afford to travel far from home, President Bush has spent the last four days in Beijing for the Olympic games. I want to be the first to say, Mr. President, get your butt back to work or you are fired!
Every time they flashed to him during the games I was at once enraged at him and his smirky I don’t care about anything but myself face and reminded about everything he has done wrong as President. No one politician could ever be more disconnected from reality and us common folk.
Mr. Bush has had more vacation time than any other President of the United States. I was unable to find the actual number of days off, but did find this from last year:
The presidential vacation-time record holder is the late Ronald Reagan, who tallied 436 days in his two terms. At 418 days, and with 17 months to go in his presidency, Bush is going to beat that easily.
It was estimated he would have up to 499 days off between his two terms as President. Doing the math, that is around 17% of his time as President he was out of the office on vacation. I was kind and included weekends. If we use the traditional 5 day work week that jumps to nearly 24% of his time spent on vacation.
This is while we are supposed to be at war!
The Commander-in-Chief demands 12+ months from his enlisted men in a war zone but can’t manage 12 months in Washington D.C. himself.
Via comparison, most Americans receive one week off per year, if they take it. That’s 2% versus Bush’s 24%
Imagine having a job and being gone from it for 2 months each year. This is exactly what Mr. Bush is doing. How could anything ever be accomplished?
This is one of the reasons we have such a mess today. The President would rather cut brush in Crawford than deal with the countries problems. He was there during Katrina. He’ll probably be there for any new crisis that occurs.
It’s hard for most of us to even find the time or money for a week off work, much less getting 62 days off per year. This would be considered gross dereliction of duty in most job positions. But not for our silver spoon President, George W. Bush. This is business as usual for his spoiled highness.
We should demand a 24% refund of his salary and he should be fired for negligence. If only his bosses (WE THE PEOPLE) had the balls to do so.
