Web Capitol Hill Blue

July 3, 2008 - 11:45am.

I used to love this pub, but no longer. Those ads fluttering down from "above" that you can't get rid of until they feel like going, are the most irritating visuals since the last photo of George W. Bush.

I'm finding the same problem unsubscribing from this newly untidy site. And with today's announcement of a "News Roundup," well I can get that from AP. Where's Doug when ya need him?

In trying to unsub, the site will not accept clicking on "unsubscribed," and there's no recourse. I've tried several times with the same result. Subscribe? Yes. Unsubscribe? No.

Until CHB returns to its former glory -- Lemme outta here.

Ever heard of pop-up

Ever heard of pop-up blocker. I don't get the ad because I turned mine on. Try it sometime, you might like it.

It's not a pop-up. It's

It's not a pop-up. It's flash based, maybe using DHTML. Turn off Flash or turn off ActiveX and they will stop. There is ad filtering software out there that will suppress and disable ads.

I'd rather the ads since I'm a cheap-o and won't pay subscription fees. CHB needs to pay their bandwidth somehow.

Sorry you're having

Sorry you're having problems. I was unaware that one of our ad reps had booked some intrusive ads. I changed the code this morning to block any future ads.

As for the news roundup, I'm recovering from rotator cuff surgery and can't type a hell of a lot until I get out of this sling (in about six weeks). The feeds are there to help me out because I'm the only one doing this right now on the news side.

I'm sorry you don't like it. I thought it would add additional news sources for our readers.

I like it. Thanks. Hope

I like it. Thanks. Hope you get to feeling well soon!

Oh, that's different. That

Oh, that's different. That you "heard" me, Doug, and took care of the problem makes me all tingly .
And the reason behind the news roundup makes all the difference -- If I could stand being pregnant for nine months, I can wait for CHB to get well.

Sorry you were having rotator cuff problems. Ouch!

I didn't know any of this before. If you had something in the pub, I failed to see it.

Thank you very much for taking the time (not to mention pain) to respond.

I feel better now.

And thanks so much for getting rid of those horrid ads. I do have ad blocks and pop-up detonators, Pollchecker, but for some reason, it had no effect on these. It took Doug to blast them to oblivion.

How about taking the Veep spot, Doug?

Thanks from me too, Doug.

Thanks from me too, Doug. Don't envy you. Take care, and thanks.
