As the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee, Sen. Barack Obama had to overcome racism in his own party to gain the nomination. Now he faces unrelenting racism from the Republican spin machine. But Republicans are already learning that racism can backfire on them.

FEAR MONGERING......plain
Submitted by pollchecker on July 2, 2008 - 8:37am.FEAR MONGERING......plain and simple. It would not matter who the Dem candidate was.
The cheat and lie Republican disinformationalists WANT YOU TO BE VERY AFRAID!
It's all politics. But it would also be a good opportunity to have a wide open discussion about race. Most people have some kind of prejudices against people different from them. There is a big difference from being prejudiced in my opinion and racist.
However, regardless of their fear mongering, the bottom line is this....is our country better off after 8 years of Bush?
Remember to Re-elect 4 MORE YEARS of BUSH/McCAIN 08! USING FEAR AND BIG BROTHER TO KEEP US IN LINE!
Yup, it's an issue because
Submitted by woody188 on July 2, 2008 - 9:19am.Yup, it's an issue because ABCNNBCBS, FOX, and AP/Reuters want it to be. While racism certainly exists, the sycophant corporate media will make sure it is widely trumpeted because they want us divided. We are easier to control when we can't get along. All they need is one race riot to clamp down on everyone.
I think it was Chuck D of Public Enemy that said, "Don't believe the hype!"
And it was John Lennon that said, "Give peace a chance"
I absolutely agree. Racial
Submitted by Warren on July 3, 2008 - 2:00am.I absolutely agree. Racial harmony doesn't sell newspapers, or TV eyeballs or webpage clicks either. Racism does, the more riots the better$$. The media need to whip up some conflict or their revenues will suffer.

A few months ago with all
Submitted by km0591 on July 2, 2008 - 11:07am.A few months ago with all the talk about Jeremiah Wright that racism would dominate the election. I do not buy that anymore.
Obama threw Wright under the bus, and since he has the nomination secured has tacked to the right, and has been going out of his way to convince all nervous white people everywhere that he is not one those scary black men you cross the street to avoid. He is just a working class Joe from the Kansas heartland who just happens to have dark skin. He even wears a flag pin just like regular patriotic folks.
Obama is a very slick politician, and I am really convinced now that he will be able to defuse such attacks easily.
What kind of president will he make? Well......
What kind of president will
Submitted by pollchecker on July 2, 2008 - 11:27am.He will make a better POTUS than Bush/McCain.
Well, Obama certainly talks
Submitted by km0591 on July 2, 2008 - 12:30pm.Well, Obama certainly talks a better game. All that happy talk about change and "Yes, we can" really sweetens up an agenda to maintain the status quo, not like that crusty old curmudgeon, McCain who makes it taste like Walmart cough syrup. Yuck.
Altogether now:
"Just a spoonful of 'hope,' makes the military-corporate status quo go down, the status quo go down, the status quo go down....."
Tra la la.....
KM, there is MORE change
Submitted by pollchecker on July 2, 2008 - 12:40pm.KM, there is MORE change coming in the future after the election and we have exterminated the neo-con cockroaches from Washington DC.
Never fear....first we have the election and then some stuff is coming down no matter who in the WH.
However, anything you say today can and will be used against you by the lie and cheat Republican Disinformationalists. So what good does it do to talk about it right now?
Get back to me on November 5, 2008....provided that we are not in the middle of World War III brought to you by Bush/Cheney/McCain, etc.etc.
That America is a nation of
Submitted by knockknock on July 2, 2008 - 2:26pm.That America is a nation of racists might have been true once, but it isn't any longer.
It is now a nation of the young, and they don't have the same problems we did, thanks to us.
Same old hate mongering will, however, rise from the depths of those who cannot accept that this world is not the world in which they were raised.
It's not about peace, it's not about patriotism, it's not about the people -- it's about power.
There -- I've p'd all over that article.
I don't think things are as
Submitted by DejaVuAllOver on July 2, 2008 - 6:50pm.I don't think things are as bad for Obama as they may seem. The relentless attacks and bias by the neocon MSM are not representative of the nation as a whole. At least, I sure hope not. I agree with knockknock; the country is waking up. It's just a matter of whether it will happen quickly enough to dodge the bullets the neocon-zionist-corporate fascists are shooting at us.
RNC Plans Obama Attack Ads
Submitted by pollchecker on July 2, 2008 - 7:43pm.RNC Plans Obama Attack Ads In Four Battleground States
Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania.
Is it because these states are in play? Or is it because they think there are more people susceptible to the smears and racism?
Perhaps the Dem VP should come from one of these states..... Feingold is from Wisconsin.
Here's another tidbit....

Anybody who doesn't think
Submitted by staunchdem on July 3, 2008 - 4:07am.Anybody who doesn't think that racism and fearmongering will dominate this election season just doesn't understand how these bloodsucking pigs work.
You'd think 40 years of this shit would wake people up, but another thing the Repugs are good at is dumbing down voters with constant negative messaging and more fearmongering.
God I hate these people and wish they would just go crawl back into their holes.
Better yet, I hope they really do move to Paraguay and suffer ill health for the rest of their miserable lives.
Hispanic Voters Back
