One of the reasons I found Barack Obama so attractive was for a possible return to honest government returned to the White House. This morning I learned that Obama will continue the faith-based grants started in 2000 by President Bush.

This is against the first Amendment barring the federal government from promoting any religion. So it seems that pandering to the Evangelicals is more important than the Bill of Rights. Hopefully by 2012 we can find a Candidate who works through the Constitution and panders to no one. I am dropping my support for Obama with sadness. I might have to drop my citizenship unless our government starts living by the Constitution.

I felt the same when I read

I felt the same when I read that, Sandra. In fact, the past few weeks, watching Obama give in by wearing the "flag pin", the flip-flops, and now this "Christianizing" of the US government has totally turned me off to Barack Obama. He's just another talking head trying to get into power. I refuse to vote for either him OR McSame. I'd rather not vote at all. What a country. :-(

Not voting is a perfectly

Not voting is a perfectly moral decision given the choice of evils facing us.

In "Skin of Evil", one of the later episodes of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Captain Picard is asked by the alien holding some of his crew captive, " Do you think I am evil?"

"No," said Picard, "you are not evil. What is truly evil is to serve someone like you!"

And that is what is truly evil is to serve the system as it is, to validate the evil by holding our nose and making the truly choice-less choice of the "lesser of two evils."

Most sincerely,

T. J. Flapsaddle

I have never seen a single

I have never seen a single Star Trek in my life and if you had something to say about serving evil, it is a shame you need to reference another's words. Clues like this show me who you are. My people speak their own words and they are interpreted as having value. I could quote Thomas Paine for the next 20 years but I speak for myself......

Did you enjoy all the gizmos on the set of Star Trek and the computer as they were all designed and built by Wonder Works, my son's studio. The voice of the computor was done by a friend of mine. But nothing would get me to buy a television until the kids left home. The reason is that my fear that they would use other's words when they should think and talk on their own. I've told you before that I am very glad you are not one of my brood as you would learn and understand proper commication skills. That is the one skill that I have passed down to help my kids evolve into a world of intelligence.

That was unnecessary. Using

That was unnecessary. Using quotes or examples from others is a perfectly acceptable and useful means of communicating one's thoughts on a subject. Isn't reading and listening to others' words how one learns, or did you simply emerge from the womb an omnipotent hypocrite? And you say that Flapsaddle needs to learn proper communication skills?

Flapsaddle is one of the most consistent and concise posters on this site, while you seem to change daily with the political winds. It is your words that hold no value, because they are always changing. It's too bad that you are unable to realize how similar in philosophy you two seem to be. You use every post by Flapsaddle to attack him/her and convey your own self-righteous, holier-than-thou, nobody knows better than me BS, even when the comment supports what you say.

Our fight goes back many years and on two forums. I've grown a tail around here with that fool trailing me like an idiot. You can have Flapsaddle and I'll find another group.

I'm an old Trekkie as my parents were Trekkies. I'd love to meet Majel Barrett. She was 1st officer in the pilot, but ended up being replaced because they felt at the time it was not realistic to have a woman be 1st officer. She later married Gene Roddenberry.

I'd love to meet her. I'd also love to see any props your son might have. Do you have any photos?

Perhaps we can take a few minutes to stop fighting the bureaucracy and have a little fun? ;)

All O.B. needs now is for a new Jim and Tammy show to support him in his effort to subvert the Constitution.

Better yet dig ole Jimmy up and pass him off as the new and improved Messiah.

Like Louis Black said, sort of, prop any dead guy up in front of a government building and they will come.

Ten bucks says the zealots wouldn't know the difference.

As my daughter has said (and

As my daughter has said (and I have posted here a number of times, to angry responses), he's an empty suit, and from the beginning, I agreed with her. She stated that he talked a lot but said nothing. This, bears that out and proves a 19 year old correct. I will find myself at the voting booth this November, making no selection for president, because there is no candidate I can in good conscience vote for, and I refuse, once again to vote for the lesser of two evils.

That is the only real

That is the only real correction that our system needs: Delegitimization by the electorate. No magic bullet, no third party, no new set of rules, principles or agendas; just the voters refusing to further underwrite the charlatans.

Every non-vote for a major-party candidate is a step in that direction. Vote for a third party if they have a candidate appealing to your values, or write in a candidate, or simply deface the presidential portion of your ballot to deny either pack of thieves the opportunity to steal your vote.

Most sincerely,

T. J. Flapsaddle

Aha, you can speak for

Aha, you can speak for yourself. Why not try it more often? My candidate has been Ron Paul for years. I can't bring him in by myself. I believe the internet is a huge fraud with most people only looking for an argument. An argument coming from a false name means nothing to most of us. What we need is more academics in our schools or around the family dinner table. That us apparently too much trouble. So I give up. I raised 3 intelligent and Constitutionally savvy adults and thought every body did. Quite frankly, I say to hell with all of you. That bunch of freaks at Faded Glory should never ever try to talk about anything other than how to make cement. You are no help either. You would rather follow me around and criticize my words.

Do it without me.

Agreed, O has made mistakes,

Agreed, O has made mistakes, but I'm nowhere near to giving up on him. I believe we need him, and badly.

He's out there trying to appease the Clintons which will help him get elected so he can do the job. He can't do it if he doesn't get elected.

I don't know what's wrong with fundraising on his own as he did during the primaries. Maybe someone will tell me what's bad about turning down public funding? Actually, that's what he's doing -- raising funds from the public.

He put together what is possibly the best political team ever, which makes me confident that he would choose the best cabinet. Hopefully, he'd make Plouffe Sec of Treasury. Seriously. Plouffe knows how to get it, spend it wisely, and save a bunch at the same time.

A friend on the Washington Post traveled with the O campaign about a month ago, for 6 days. He said Obama is the "genuine article." He said Obama is decent, brilliant, and thoughtful. We haven't had a president with a character like that in so long, I can't remember.

So I'm going to hang in, suspend doubts, and hope that Obama is elected.

P.S.

How come nobody ever said anything about Hillary not wearing a flag pin?

Her patriotism was never questioned, despite all the patriotically questionable shenanigans the Clintons pulled before leaving the White House.

Because the media was all-in

Because the media was all-in for Obama, and what better way to galvanize and expand his support than for the Republicans to attack his patriotism?

Come on folks, it's ALL

Come on folks, it's ALL POLITICS AND YOU DARN WELL KNOW IT!

What people say during a campaign and what they do are entirely two different things.

Obama is just trying to show that he is a Christian and not a Muslim.

Besides, he's not going to be able to get the votes in the Congress for that stuff nor is he going to have the money for that stuff.

But those brain dead morons don't know that. They just like what he says.

Al Gore tried to play the game of politics truee to his word and look what happened. He got outpoliticked and we ended up with GW Bush.

Personally, I don't care what he says or does as long as he beats the pants off of John McCain.

WE KNOW WHAT 4 MORE YEARS OF BUSH/MCCAIN WILL BRING!

If you don't want to vote for Obama, then fine, don't vote for him. Just remember that, though, if Bush/McCain gets elected and we end up like Nazi Germany aka a fascist state in the middle of World War III.

Because that is likely where Bush/McCain will take us.....right into World War III with the whole damn Middle East. Only this time, there are NUCLEAR WEAPONS AT PLAY.

That's right people. Think about it. Pakistan is harboring members of the Taliban and Al Qaeda, possibly even Osama Bin Laden. They have Nuclear Weapons. So, maybe some of us are old enough that this doesn't really matter. But I have sons that I do not want to see marched off to another stupid and unnecessary war.

That's some food for thought, Pollchecker. I'll mull it over, and thanks for posting.

Sandra, I mean no disrespect, but in all honesty, I've never seen a post from Flapsaddle which would warrant such rage as you're apparently feeling toward this person. Maybe Flapsaddle is a "What about Bob?" type of person, following you around, just trying to drive you 'round the bend, as you seem to think, but I haven't seen him/her DIRECTLY call you out, so far. I think this forum is big enough for all of us to post our opinions, with all of them being welcome, including your own AND Flapsaddles. Heaven knows we could all use some diverse opinions and ideas to mull over in this time of turmoil.

I'm a set up for an entire

I'm a set up for an entire forum and I will not be set up anywhere. This is not the only forum. She can have it. I think by now, most of you know my agenda and it is one I have had for over 60 years. I get my words thrown back on Faded Glory and I don't need this. I am so fed up with America at this point that nothing running in November is worth my effort. I'm furious with myself for not taking up needlepoint and have continued to read books on American policies and am tired of being pissed off. I need to focus on something else. I may just knock out my internet and use the computer as a word processor to write stories.

My agenda is crystal clear and Flapsaddle has a new one daily. I often compare her silly words with my own two girls and son and they all are published writers. I taught them the use of words and now I'm banging my head against ridiculous and silly people like Flapsaddle. I'm not dead yet and maybe I can find the same road that my kids have followed.

Good luck with whatever you choose to elect in November.
