British comedian Robert Newman put together an easily digestible, short documentary on the history of oil over roughly the last 100 years. I haven't seen this here before, and only just now found out about it to tell you all. You can see the 45 minute film on Google Video, though I'm sure higher quality versions are out there freely.

He makes connections many of us have already made, but he put other things together that I, at least, didn't know before. For example, he posits that the Berlin-Baghdad Railway being planned and built so Germany could have direct access to mid-east oil was one of the causes of World War I.

Instead of just preaching to the choir as so many other similar things do, this documentary is something that outsiders can enjoy and learn from. Show your friends.
